Irreversible Blessing!

“ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” – Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)

Galatians declares that we have the blessing of Abraham, so it would benefit us to know what this blessing is. Many already know that like Abraham, we are made righteous by grace through faith, and not because of works of the law (Romans 5:1). However, that is as 631far as many have ventured towards understanding the blessing, but God has more for us to discover!

Galatians 3:9 says that ‘they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.’ (KJV) We are blessed in the same way that Abraham was blessed – so let’s by blessed by discovering the blessings!

  1. “the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.” – Genesis 24:1 (KJV)

  2. “And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” – Genesis 13:2 (KJV)

  3. “Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken (i.e. advanced) in age;” – Genesis 18:11 (KJV, brackets mine)

  4. ““And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.”– Genesis 24:35 (KJV)

  5. “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:– Genesis 12:2 (KJV)

  6. “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” – Romans 4:13 (KJV)

  7. “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;”– Genesis 22:17 (KJV)

  8. “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”– Genesis 12:3 (KJV)

  9. “And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac.” – Genesis 25:11 (KJV); “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him.,” – Genesis 26:12 (KJV)

  10. “And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her”. – Genesis 17:15-16 (KJV)

The weight of the blessings and Goodness upon our lives is staggering, shocking, and astounding. In Christ, we have become heirs of the world, overflowing with blessings in every facet of our lives to such an extent that those around us are also blessed abundantly in supernatural proportions!

These blessings are evidently not a one off thing, but in Christ we shall experience one 632blessing after another, both in the natural and in the spiritual. Because we have the blessing of Abraham upon our lives, will experience wealth, health, divine renewal of youth, and divine protection, to name just a few of the above blessings.

Also, just like Abraham’s wife Sarah, through God’s blessings we shall no longer by defined by how others have viewed us, because the blessings of God will re-define our status and our identity. In areas where we have seemed to be lacking, we will discover such over-abundance of blessing and influence that we will forget the past and rejoice!  (see Isaiah 61:7). We will not have to do anything to make this come to pass, either, as God will ensure that this is so through his grace given to us in Jesus Christ. This is why Paul prayed not that believers would gain their inheritance in Christ, but that they would know just how glorious and hope-filled their calling is, because they already have ‘the riches of the glory of Christ’s inheritance’, within them. In other words, the blessing is already within us and upon our lives, and Paul wants us as believers to know and recognise this! (Ephesians 1:18, KJV)

Through the blessing of Abraham upon our life, given to us in Jesus Christ, God has promised to curse the curses that come against us, and to bless these blessings upon our lives so that we go from one degree of blessing to another.

Now, don’t think that these blessings are for some and not others. Because Scripture has made it clear that Christ has qualified us, redeeming us from our sins and the curses of our633 mistakes and failures! (Galatians 3:13-14). Get ready to experience and see more blessings than ever before through the power of this Gospel message! (Romans 1:16)

“ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” – Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)

Being in heir of the world is also about unconditionally inheriting all of the promises included in Deuteronomy 28, such as:

  • Being blessed wherever you go (28:3)

  • Experiencing blessing in your family and career (28:4)

  • Being blessed with abundant material provision (28:5)

  • Experiencing blessings within your home and also outside of your home (28:6)

  • Being blessed with all authority over your enemies, such as sickness, poverty, and worry (28:7).

  • Being blessed with influence and favor with people (28:10)

Yes, being blessed to be an heir of the world means that in all circumstances you are ‘above only, and not beneath’ (28:13). It means that in Christ you have authority over ‘all the power of the enemy: nothing shall by any means hurt you’ (Luke 10:19, KJV). Do not think that these blessings will be a small trickle. In Christ, you have supernatural-sized blessings, just like Joseph in the Bible who prospered so much in Jesus that even his non-believing master could physically see that ‘the Lord made all that he did prosper in his hand’ (Genesis 39:2-3, KJV). So today, simply focus on the fact that God loves you. Take the focus off your performance, and place it onto your righteousness in Christ. You will reign with the blessings of Abraham, manifesting your identity as an heir of the world!

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” – Romans 5:17 (KJV).

Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, the blessing given to Abraham that kings would come from him, has been fulfilled in us (Genesis 17:6). We reign in and through Jesus 634Christ and his grace, and exercise royal authority on earth and over our circumstances (Revelation 1:6; 1 Peter 2:9) . When you reign, sickness, sin, disease, and poverty does not. When you reign, the abundance and supply of heaven is released into your body, your emotions, your mind, and your surroundings. This is truly good news!

Being a Favor Magnet

 1 John 4:10

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”  (KJV)

Jesus has established us in a position of favor with the Father, where we cannot help but be blessed wherever we go, and whatever we do. This is what Ephesians 2:6, being ‘seated in heavenly places with Christ’, and Ephesians 1:3, having ‘all spiritual blessings in heavenly places’, is all about. This is why John declares that Jesus is the ‘propitiation’ for our sins. The biblical word for propitiation is the Greek word ‘hilasmos’, which speaks of an atoning sacrifice; a sacrifice which redeems us back into the blessings and favor of the Gospel. In other words, John is stating in 4:10 ‘because God loves us, he sent his beloved Son to atone for our sins, to make us a magnet for all His goodness, grace, and blessings’. This is why Hebrews 8:6 declares that the new covenant is ‘established on better promises’.  Another way of referring to these ‘better promises’ is as ‘the blessing of Abraham’, as mentioned in Galatians 3.

In order to understand how God’s love is linked in with Christ being our propitiation, or favor-magnet, let’s take a look at Galatians 3:13-14: “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.’ (KJV). Jesus carried all of our curses, and in return became an atoning sacrifice for our sins, so that we could forever experience the unconditional, irreversible blessings of our affectionate and loving Father. But what is this blessing of Abraham that was bestowed upon us?  – First of all, it means that we are righteous through Jesus and faith in him, and not through our own works (Genesis 15:6). As it wasn’t our good works that caused us to inherit the blessing of Abraham, our bad works cannot disqualify us. It is simply through Christ that we have been made a co-heir of this blessing! (Romans 8:17). That is why John writes in 1 John 4:10 that love is not about our love for God, but his love for us. The blessings are ours to experience, not because of our sincerity, striving, or love, but because of God’s love towards us, shown through Christ’s finished work. Focusing upon and enjoying his love causes every blessing of faith to effortlessly manifest (Galatians 5:6).

But what kind of blessings are given to those who have received ‘the blessing of Abraham’? – To answer simply, as many as you can imagine, and even more! – Genesis 24:1 declares that ‘The Lord had blessed Abraham in all things’, i.e. in every sphere of life, Abraham was experiencing vast blessings. Now, don’t let anyone tell you that this doesn’t include marterial prosperity, because Scripture is clear that Abraham was ‘very rich in livestock, silver, and in gold’ (Genesis 13:2). Romans 4:13 further expresses that through ‘the righteousness of faith’ Abraham ‘became an heir of the world’. Yes, being blessed to be an heir of the world means that in all circumstances you are ‘above only, and not beneath’ (28:13). It means that in Christ you have authority over ‘all the power of the enemy: nothing shall by any means hurt you’ (Luke 10:19). So today, in order to experience these truths that Christ has become our favor-magnet, simply focus on the fact that God loves you. Take the focus off your performance, and place it onto your righteousness in Christ.

Mighty God, Mightily Blessed

Genesis 26:12-17

‘Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him… And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we…’

I find it strange that some people believe in a mighty God, but not in the truth that that mighty God wants his children ‘mighty upon earth” (See Psalm 112:2, KJV). You see, it’s only natural that the Almighty wanted to share his power and his wealth with his children. And it’s only supernatural that he has! Through Jesus we have been abundantly blessed, with every mighty blessing the Almighty has! God blessed you, not because he had to, but because he wanted to, and he hasn’t blessed you with a ‘buy now, pay later’, or a ‘look now, taste later, blessing. No, he has blessed you with the blessing of Abraham, a blessing you can see fully made manifest, a blessing you can enjoy in every area of your life!

Like Isaac in Genesis 26, who was abundantly blessed (I mean, he sowed and then in the very same year received a ‘hundredfold’), you are blessed – even more so as you are in unhindered Union with the Blesser himself! Isaac enjoyed the blessing of Abraham and walked in such manifest blessing that he ‘waxed great’ and even made a pagan kingdom (bare in mind that Isaac had more of a household than a nation) envy him and beg him to leave and admit that he was much mightier than they. Now, do you think that a man who received God’s blessing from the outside (as in, through a friendship covenant), has it better than you, who is ‘in Christ’? No! In Christ you are blessed, and like Isaac, but more so, you can walk in tremendous blessing! Now, there are a few differences: instead of making others fear, you become a light of attraction for the Kingdom of Papa, and instead of having a great possession of flocks, you can enjoy a more contextual material gain (unless of course you’re a farmer and would like an increase flocks and herds). But, never mind the differences, the truth remains that you can enjoy the blessing of Christ in every area of your life!

So, today know that your Papa loves you, and hasn’t given you a ‘look now, taste later’ inheritance, but the very blessing of Christ, which you can see and enjoy in the here and now! Perhaps, today allow your heavenly Daddy to encourage you in this reality – sit on his knee and co-know with him the truth that you can experience manifest Salvation, manifest prosperity!

Good from Our Good Father

Ephesians 1:2

‘Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.’ (KJV)

When it comes to God and his goodness many subconsciously believe that there is a different dictionary to be referenced, a ‘divine’ definition of goodness to be used. But God’s goodness isn’t bizarre; it’s not strange to us. He is good. He is good to us; he wants you to be convinced of his goodness. In ways we can understand, in ways that will bless your heart! Maybe you have lost hope in God’s goodness, or maybe you have watered down the unlimited-ness, the outrageousness of God’s goodness? Well, as you turn to Holy Spirit you will inevitably find yourself hoping and believing in the goodness of the Godhead – the goodness which was revealed in Jesus and through his finished work, the goodness that God desires for you to see manifest in your life!

God is incredible good and we can see that through our great Salvation; we can see God’s goodness in this: Jesus is Lord. Jesus’ Lordship isn’t something that we create when we believe in his grace – Jesus is Lord of the cosmos. He fought, won – conquered. His Kingdom is inaugurated. And, guess what? His Lordship, his Kingdom is one correlated with unquestionable goodness! The Lordship of Jesus testifies to the goodness of God, and as you embrace your inheritance and the Kingdom of King Jesus you will unquestionably testify to the reality that God is good and that from him came grace and peace!

Only good comes from God. God is good. This is far more than just Sunday school talk – although Jesus did say that the Kingdom of God belongs to the innocence, imagination, and belief of little children – this is a huge, massive foundation of all theology. So today, believe that God is a good God. Then, go further and believe that this good God is your loving Papa, and that he longs for you to see his manifest goodness and enjoy his gift-giving skills and kindness in your life! Proclaim the Lordship of Jesus, and that his Kingdom is one of grace and glory – proclaim that you will see the exuberant goodness of God ‘in the land of the living.’ (See Psalm 27:13 KJV)

Not of this World

John 18:36

‘Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.’ (KJV)

When you became a believer, a whole new dimension of living opened up to you, and you inherited the Kingdom of heaven. This Kingdom has for centuries inspired fairytale and fantasy with its ‘happily ever afters’, and ‘dreams come true’. It is a kingdom full of wonderstruck royalty and bliss-filled happiness. A kingdom where magic exists! This Kingdom is heaven on earth in the here and now, and the gateway to experiencing its tangible realities is Christ’s finished work. Christ functions as a secret doorway – as you lean, depend, and rely on his love, revealed in the Gospel message, you will discover yourself stumbling through this Christ-door, and into the Disneyland park of heaven, the heart-realm of inspiration, having ears that hear and eyes that see this invisible reality!  As what is unseen becomes seen and known in your understanding through the revelation of Christ, the power of this new dimension dances into your physical world like a babbling brook, and influences the natural world with its living inspiration, exotic glory-vitality, and flourishing life! Your senses will begin to engage in and resonate with this divine heavenly vacation-park, which is open all hours, and completely free to enjoy!

Jesus transforms an ordinary world into a parade of heaven’s patterns. Colossians articulates that Jesus has completely de-coded the mystery of the human race, revealing to us the life of our design, the quality of life the Godhead always dreamt we would experience, through revealing to us this new kingdom and its culture:  ‘Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son’ (Col. 1:13 KJV). At one time, you were a tree of the knowledge of good and evil, plugged into man’s best efforts and ideals, grounded in natural circumstance, and only able to perceive anything through the darkened understanding of the world’s basic principles and rules. But now, you are a flourishing tree of life, planted into this new, deeper-magic dimension of God’s heart through the finished work of Jesus Christ, and blossoming in resurrection-revelations. You were plugged into the body of Christ in his death, and vitally joined in a Siamese union with his heart, so that the rhythm of your life now beats to his trillion-volt bliss! You were translated into heaven’s dimension so that you can live by heaven’s principles, and manifest heaven’s wonders, no longer dictated by the natural rules and regulations of the world.

As a result, you have the Godhead’s quality of life, which throughout the Gospel of John is named ‘eternal life’. Life without beginning or end. Life unhindered and overflowing with vitality and limitless goodness. You no longer have to be afraid of the ‘rules’ of this world, because you are not simply a natural creature anymore. You are plugged into the supernatural, heavenly Source of Christ’s heart and imagination, and he is articulating his all-sufficient life throughout your natural world. This life is care-free in God’s tender care, and does not need to defend itself – the Gospel is the defender, and it produces wonder-working, grave-breaking, resurrection-ready power.

Enjoying Jesus

Colossians 2:6

‘As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him’ (KJV)

When one receives Jesus one enters into the full extent of the Kingdom reality; a reality, a Kingdom, full of peace, joy, fun, and adventure. A Kingdom of grace and love; where God is the benefactor and we his beneficiaries. Religion and legalistic self-effort have no place in this reality. Indeed, the New Covenant is about receiving through faith, not attaining through effort. It’s about enjoying Jesus, not enduring service.

Union with the Godhead is so beautiful, and we get to enjoy this everyday – with all its benefits! Unfortunately, due to religion, many have had the joy of knowing this glorious, effortless, laden-with-blessing union stolen from them. Some have known a taste of this freedom, but have abandoned the simplicity of Christ’s Finished Work for the baffling brew of law and grace. To some the idea of simply enjoying Jesus and his blessing all the time is impractical or lazy. In truth, however, Jesus has provided a no-lack Salvation, with everything we need for life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3), and there is no need to work for what God has already freely given! It takes more faith to rest in this grace, to enjoy life and this wonderful union we have with the Trinity, than it does to receive Christ by one way (grace, through faith), and then to live another way (works).

Perhaps you are living from a place of self-effort? Perhaps you are trying to achieve that which God has freely provided? Let me tell you, Papa God is so in love with you, he adores you, and loves doting on you! What he has provided is in no way lacking; God hasn’t left out of Salvation the provision you need – you are blessed with every blessing heaven has (Eph. 1:3)! Rest in him! You received the Spirit by grace, now live in and by the Spirit! Live in grace! Maybe you tasted the joy of Salvation but have become weighed down by religion and law? If this is you, know with confidence that the Spirit in you has made you rich and Papa wants to experience his tangible favor and glory – indeed, God wants you to experience his own joy! Live in grace and enjoy your unforced union with the Godhead!

A Whole New World

Galatians 1:3-5

‘Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,  who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,  to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.’ (KJV)

Some believers spend their entire lives trying to ‘escape’; escaping from sin, the systems of this world (do good, get good and foreboding mentalities), from poverty, from ‘bad luck’, and from a whole host of different things. They erroneously believe that; 1) they need to escape, and 2) something out there can help them. Number 2 is sadly often hijacked by Christian ministers who then, mostly out of genuine intent, create a religion out of a relationship, and give people steps, formulas, or practical advice based on self-effort. This is all because somewhere along the line we believed we needed to ‘escape’…

The thinking that one needs to escape derives from the belief of lack; the belief of lack erroneously states that you haven’t got what it takes, that you aren’t blessed, are distant and separate from God, and need to attain in order to enjoy. The Spirit, though, is leading us to understand that we have escaped the ‘dominion of darkness’ and that we have arrived, in fact are enthroned, in the Kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy! You see, you have being baptized into the Kingdom. You are a new creation (see 2 Cor. 5:17), and you are FREE, you have escaped! YOU have escaped! Because of what Jesus has accomplished through his death, burial and resurrection, you are in a whole new world! Your escape has happened via the Finished Word of Jesus; you have been ‘rescued’, or ‘translated’ as Colossians 1:13 states; “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.” (KJV). You have been set free, rescued, translated and delivered out of the dominion of darkness and the present evil age with all of its effects and consequences.

So, instead of trying to escape, and rather than trying to be set-free from sin, and in place of aiming to be safe from ‘bad luck’, why not enjoy and give thanks! You are free, you are in the Kingdom, you have Jesus’ own righteousness, you have his incomparable favor. And you have ‘escaped’! You are enthroned with him!
