A Detailed Love
3 John 1:2 (KJV)
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
God’s heartbeat is family; ‘In the beginning God’ isn’t just a clever introduction to the bible, it is a declaration of God’s form of existence – family! The Hebrew word for ‘God’ is the word ‘elohiym’, and this word is plural. Some see this to be of little consequence, but to the New Testament believer it is obviously a reference to the family of the Godhead! Not only has God always existed in family (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), but he created humankind to share in this family. God’s purpose for creation was family. And, it hasn’t changed! God’s heart is family – God’s heart is you! Papa’s love for family is detailed, and as such, is full of pleasant blessings and surprises! God wants his children to know and believe his love for them and the riches and blessings that Jesus has provided!
You are the love of God’s life; you are God’s reason, his poem! Papa adores you in such a personal and intimate way. Papa God desires for all of his children to understand their place in his family, and his detailed love for them. Because of Jesus and his Finished Work you are now part of the circle of the Trinity! You are in the family! As such you have an inheritance; as such it is your birth-right to be blessed! Believe that these glorious blessings are yours. Believe that through Jesus, you have an irrevocable right to the riches of the Trinity and that you can know this inheritance, just as it is your right to know the love of your God and your identity is his family!
Daddy loves you and his heart for you is blessing. John’s salutation in 3 John echoes the heart of our loving Saviour. Daddy God says to you today; ‘Beloved, my love for you is personal and detailed. My heart for you is blessing. Go through life knowing that I am with you and because I am with you, blessings are chasing you down!’ That’s God’s heart for his children! Daddy doesn’t want us striving, begging, and pessimistic. He wants us expectant of good days, because he loves us, and his love for us is detailed!
Enjoying the Spiritual Gifts of Prosperity and Divine Health
3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (NKJV)
Do you believe that your Daddy God wants you to enjoy good health and to prosper in all that you do? I hope you do, because he does! And he hasn’t given you a promise that is void of certainty – no he has already provided those wonderful gifts for you! Through the Finished Work of the cross God has granted you access into his own life, which you received when you received Salvation, and right now you have the gifts of prosperity and divine health on the inside of you! That’s why I entitled this devotional ‘Enjoying the Spiritual Gifts of Prosperity and Divine Health’, and not something like ‘Expect Prosperity and Divine Healing’ – because although it’s a wonderful thing to expect to experience the power of God in tangible ways, we can start to enjoy everything he has given us in the now, in the Spirit! And as we enjoy it by faith we can be confident that the Spirit will lead us into seeing manifestation of those glorious realities!
John wrote 3 John 1:2 as a greeting full of meaning and desire; he wanted Gaius (the man John was writing to) to experience that which he already had on the inside. It also mirrors the heart of our God who was in John expressing the same desires! While some think that wanting to enjoy these blessings is greedy or wrong, John knew that it is the correct mirror image of what he enjoyed in the Spirit realm; it’s the natural result because of the glory imparted to us by the Holy Spirit! And, it’s not just the natural result, it’s the God honouring result; God wants us blessed because he adores us, but it also points the world to a God that is good, and it enables us to partner with the Holy Spirit and bless others in a great way!
God’s desire is to convince you that he has imparted these marvellous gifts to you; that when you received Salvation (which includes everything that God is and has), you were made very rich, and this richness can be seen manifest in every area of your life! So today; enjoy the spiritual reality of what you have already been given, knowing that as you partner with Holy Spirit you will be led to explore the dimensions of faith and see great power and prosperity made manifest!
