Embracing the Secret Centre of Your Life

By Paige Hunt

The Good News of Jesus Christ is that you have been elevated far above circumstances, memories, and do-to-be mentalities and definitions. You have been gifted with the mind of Christ, the heavenly consciousness, because you have been invited to move beyond the tree of the knowledge of good and evil:  from seeing everything through the eyes of ‘the fall’, to understanding and knowing yourself as you have always been known – in the 31wisdom of God’s heart. You were found in the Trinity before you were lost in the fall. Secure in Papa’s embrace – the substance of his imagination and heart. God has known you before you even knew yourself.

To truly grasp this you must first go to the garden within you – the original Eden – and rest there with Jesus in the cool of the day. You are a garden of pleasure to the Lord, his playground of intimate communion, and you contain the wisdom of God in a very specific, never-seen-before way. As you begin to enjoy this communion, the natural rhythm of your heart, you will know all things as Christ and see Christ in all things (Titus 1:15).

You did not begin at the moment of conception. You were designed and created as a secret garden of God, from before the foundation of the world. You were God’s mystery, kept hidden from the ages, until the moment of your birth. When you were born, so was another unique revelation of God – another flowing river of God’s inspiration, another seamless canvas on which God paints and imagines and dreams in a unique and special way – as you follow your inspired heart, you express Jesus upon this earth in a way that no one else can. You can see, hear, and know God’s Spirit in a way that no one else was designed to.

“We are all meant to be mothers of God…for God is always needing to be born” – Meister Eckhart

This is why Ephesians 2:10 expresses that we are God’s workmanship, or, more accurately, his poem. The original word used was ‘poiēma’. You are God’s poem, and a poem is defined as ‘something which arouses strong emotions because of its beauty’. Through you, God exists in a unique way. He pours out his beauty in specific colours and textures through you. You are God’s altered state of consciousness, his alternative state of being – a specific mind-altering substance of Jesus, just as he is your wine of wisdom. You two flow and dance together in the holiest of communions, and reveal heaven on earth in a wild, wondersome way. You are the future – the unfolding Tomorrowland of God’s new age. You 32can experience this divine communion in all things, at all times – every expression of desire and pleasure within and through your natural personality is the experience of God’s divine personality and nature. It is the living, breathing word of God – those currents of Spirit-breath pulsating through you.

“The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God’s eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love” – Meister Eckhart

At the dawn of creation the Trinity were frolicking together, enjoying the creative heaven of their love. Their love has always been a vital, refreshing, alive union of creativity, song, beauty, and vast lovedrunken expressions – life overflowing spontaneously into many springs of inspiration – into the elixir of life, that secret stream of inspiration that began to flood into matter – creating earth and trees, animals and plants. God loves expressing himself in these things, flowing through these things in frequencies and vibrations. The dance of life. The atmosphere was one of play and worship – everything that is seen came into being through God’s eureka moment – his unseen enthusiasm that shaped all things. And God was so happy, so content. God is so satisfied and fattened on the beauties and glories of the material realm; it is not in opposition to his nature, it is seamlessly one with his Spirit-life.33

God is a dreamer. He is imagination and practicality. And it seemed good to the Trinity to express themselves in physical matter – a land of enchantment flowing with milk and honey. His garden universe vibrates complete. Conception was so exciting to the Trinity.

Steve Mcvey’s book ‘Beyond an Angry God’ expresses this articulately:

“The divine dance of the Trinity exists outside of time and space in the eternal now. Time is an illusory phenomenon among human beings that appears to be sequential and measured by a succession of happenings. In the eternal realm, everything is simultaneous and all exists in “the now”. There is no tomorrow to God. He doesn’t wait in anticipation for anything to happen because he already knows it all at once, and that includes you. There has never been a time when you were not known and treasured as precious to God. God told Jeremiah, ‘before I formed you in the womb I knew you’. (Jer. 1:5). Later He told him ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love’ (Jer. 31:3). The word everlasting points not only toward an unending duration in the future but also to ancient times long ago. To be exact, it points to a state outside of time…The quality of love shared among the members of the Trinity has always been perfect. Divine love can be nothing less than perfect love. In the beauty of the eternal plan, this love finds greater expression in quantity, not quality….”

The wisdom of the Trinity was excited to express themselves in a unique way through creation and ultimately through you. God shares his consciousness in unique colours, flavours, and patterns through your natural personality and inspired heart. God wants to experience this life, this secret garden of his imagination within you. As Song of Solomon depicts it, it is a garden of intimate love and lofty delights. Every pleasure is him experiencing pleasure through you, and you experiencing the pleasure of him experiencing34 life through your eyes – he wants you to know as you have always been known. This is an experiential knowing. The wisdom of what God has always known to be true concerning us.

“He associated us in Christ before the fall of the world! Jesus is God’s mind made up about us! He always knew in his love that he would present us again face-to-face before him in blameless innocence. [God found us in Christ before he loved us in Adam]” – Ephesians 1:4 (MIRROR WORD translation).

The message which Francois du Toit so beautifully articulates in the Mirror Translation is further expounded upon in Romans 1:17:

“Herein lies the secret of the power of the Gospel; there is no good news in it until the righteousness of God is revealed! The dynamic of the Gospel is the revelation of God’s faith as the only valid basis for our belief. The prophets wrote in advance about the fact that God believes that righteousness reveals the life of our design [The good news is the fact that the cross of Christ was a success. God rescued the life of our design…It is not about what man must or must not do but about what Jesus has done! Gods faith in you, rubs off on you! It is from faith to faith, and not man’s good or bad behaviour or circumstances].”

This is the reason that Christ is so precious to us. It is only through Christ’s faith revealed in us in our mystical co-crucifixion, co-burial, and co-resurrection with him, that we can begin to understand God within our own humanity. Christ reveals to us the mystic garden of our spirit and how this is in harmony with our personality. He reveals that God was not a stoic list of rules and regulations, but a caring, gentle, humble, compassionate Father – the gardener of creation, the tender Presence of harmony, tranquillity and blessings who loves expressing himself through natural life. Christ reveals that God is good with no bad, and that we were enemies of God only within our minds. Indeed, the fall of man happened 35.jpgwithin our minds. God showed up in the playground of our hearts after man had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and he said

“Where are you???”

It was us who had become darkened and distorted in perception. As Meister Eckhart has said, “God is at home, it is we who are in the far country”.

Yet as we begin to awaken to the Gospel message we transcend the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, pride and shame, nourishing ourselves on do-to-be mentalities and legalistic dynamics and dimensions. We begin to flow with the ease of the tree of life – we begin to awaken to melodies pure and authentic, breathing in the atmosphere of the fullness of God. You have the fullness of heaven’s vibrations right now. His love is your reality, your spirit-embrace. It makes you mellow from the core of your being until you can perceive heaven at one with everything in your life. Van Morrison in his song ‘And it Stoned me’, gives a wonderful description that can easily be seen as being relevant to this conversation:

“Half a mile from the county fair
And the rain keep pourin’ down
Me and Billy standin’ there
With a silver half a crown
Hands are full of a fishin’ rod
And the tackle on our backs
We just stood there gettin’ wet
With our backs against the fence…
Oh the water…
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin’ home
And it stoned me.
Then the rain let up and the sun came up
And we were gettin’ dry
Almost let a pick-up truck nearly pass us by
So we jumped right in and the driver grinned
And he dropped us up the road
We looked at the swim and we jumped right in
Not to mention fishing poles
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Let it run all over me
. On the way back home we sang a song
But our throats were getting dry
Then we saw the man from across the road
With the sunshine in his eyes
Well he lived all alone in his own little home
With a great big gallon jar
There were bottles too, one for me and you
And he said Hey! There you are
Oh, the water
Oh, the water”

As we begin to understand that we are ‘in Christ’, composed of the substance of his inspiration, of the dreams-come-true of beauty and creativity, we can experience God’s enjoyment of us and love in all things. This is also named ‘living under the smile of God’s approval’, or ‘practising God’s presence’. We can interact with the dynamics and ravenous enjoyment of Jesus in all things. Heaven is an atmosphere which is already within and all around us. Even your fond childhood memories are God’s photographs that reveal a unique, never-seen-before revelation of the God of Wonder and Joy. 36

John Crowder in his book ‘Mystical Union’ expresses this gleeful reality of what happens as we live from the secret centre of our lives:

“Isaiah 35 speaks of this reality. It says even the burning sands of the desert will turn into bubbling pools. If you’re in a desert right now, just cheer up! See it as a wonderful opportunity to become a sprinkler system. You get to turn the place into a garden! You are an oasis. You have rivers of living water flowing from within your inmost being….Try your best to exaggerate God’s goodness. He is always greater than your wildest imagination….Realise that the atmosphere of heaven is zipping through you continually. Your daily portion is to be drunk on love in this garden of delight”

Life is heavenly glory – sink into layer upon layer of God’s caressing, lavishly loving thoughts towards you. He is pure goodness –and this world is formed through the gooey goodness of his imagination. This is why you can see yourself as a divine human – a unique flavour of the Godhead expressing yourself in and through the reality of realities – Heaven on earth – the playground of divine humans!

“And my present life is not that of the old “I”, but the living Christ within me.” – Galatians 2:20

37.jpgYou were designed to be caught up into the paradise of God’s love – conscious of the creative beauties of Jesus. You have always been so much more than you have dreamt you are. Your independent existence is an illusion, one which causes you to live in uncomfortable, dull, inferior patterns. God has always known you intimately – he created you to be permeated with divine bliss, out of your earthly (ego) mind, and plugged into the consciousness of the Trinity, expressing themselves through you in unique ways. In the distilled Bible, Galatians 2:20 states that through Christ we enjoy a second existence which is simply Christ using our body!

The Gospel is such good news! It awakens us from self-consciousness (a lifestyle plagued by both pride and emotions of condemnation!) to the superior mode of being: Christ-consciousness.  Christ, in our flavours and colours, replaces the false, illusion ‘self’ at the centre of our lives. He lives through us and it feels and looks so much like us that we don’t know where he ends and we begins – we are one, infused with his life!  That old ‘I’ that brought us such dissatisfaction and guilt, that we were really struggling to overcome, has already died there in the revelation of Christ. God inhaled the old world at the cross, and in his resurrection he exhaled the new world of beauty and abundant life. As we soak into this mystical revelation, we too participate in the manifestation of this new life, a life which is our core essence and our substance.

“The very spring of our actions is the love of Christ. We look at it like this: if one died for all men then, in a sense, they all died, and his purpose in dying for them is that their lives should now be no longer lived for themselves but for him who died and rose again for them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:13-15 (Phillips)

Christ is the pure artesian spring of our inspiration and existence. We can live from this secret fountain within, flowing with this elixir of life in the bliss-filled garden of our 38Spirit-space. Once again Van Morrison lyrics are a brilliant metaphor for the secret garden of our Spirit.

“And I will stroll the merry way
And jump the hedges first
And I will drink the clear
Clean water for to quench my thirst
And I will never grow so old again
And I will walk and talk
In gardens all wet with rain
And you shall take me strongly In your arms again
And I will not remember
That I even felt the pain.
We shall walk and talk
In gardens all misty and wet with rain
And I will never, never, never
Grow so old again.
And I will raise my hand up
Into the night time sky
And count the stars
That’s shining in your eye
Just to dig it all an’ not to wonder
That’s just fine
And I’ll be satisfied
Not to read in between the lines
And I will walk and talk
In gardens all wet with rain
And I will never, ever, ever, ever
Grow so old again.
Oh sweet thing, sweet thing
Sugar-baby with your champagne eyes
And your saint-like smile….”

In this bliss of the secret place, everything that is not in harmony with the Christ-reality, the true reality, is dissolved and obliterated. This glory realm inside of us is the power of God, greater than any contradiction, and it makes every path of our lives straight and 39solves any and every issue. The wisdom of God is in the fountains of his love, in the heady beauty of his garden-heart. In the wonders of his whimsical imagination. As we rest in the secret garden of the heart we lean upon our lover, Jesus.

“Who is this coming up from the desert leaning on her lover?” – Song of Solomon 8:5

No self-effort is needed to flow with the Trinitarian wholeness; the gladness of their happy-glory.

Enjoying the Moment

You are a child of the deliciously imaginative, eccentric Inventor of heaven. Placed in the Funhouse of his bliss, invited to adventure and experience the dimensions of heaven in all of her creative flourishings. With candyfloss in one hand and shiny new binoculars in the other, your heavenly Creator loves to load you with material blessings as you explore this atmospheric circus of life, going from one exciting revelation to another, experiencing the multi-faceted gems of his personalised imagination. Through faith God shaped a world of wonder. The glory is both nourishing nectar and elastic stretchy – your Daddy shaped and formed a cosmic-sized theme park2 of sweetness and gave it to you freely as a gift. Feast on its delights and feel yourself uplifted and revitalised.

Fall into layer upon layer of God’s thoughts, which are endlessly good. Welcome to heaven – all of it is yours to explore! Jesus is both the map to the paradise island of pleasure, and the island itself. You’ve been shipwrecked on this island of his love and grace. Fantastic endeavours and adventures await you. For anyone who is thirsty for this thrilling life of divine beauties, simply come to Jesus and drink. Mystic waters will flow from within the depths of your heart: that elixir of life that revitalises and refreshes day by day, moment by moment.

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them” – John 7:37-38

How exciting! Your life is now exhilaratingly interesting. No more boring days as you enjoy this reality. You can now view everything through the looking glass of Christ’s finished work. Jesus is a house of mirrors who enables you to view everything about your life in an entirely new way. You will exclaim with delight, “I never noticed my situation from that angle before. I didn’t realise there was so much glory there!”. Glory all around you! Christ brings psychedelic and exotic colours to dull patterns and modes of living, as he expands your consciousness and transforms your perceptions, so that you can see yourself fattened with the blessings of his house!

Do you want to experience this truth? Simply pluck the colourful, whimsical-looking fruit from the tree of life, just like C.S Lewis did! You can dwell in authentic Narnia, lingering there and tasting of its fruits. Our best, most abiding theology is not composed of mental notes, but divine, gooey glory-syrup: tasted and experienced.

“It is as hard to explain how this sunlit land was different from the old Narnia as it would be to tell you how the fruits of that country taste. Perhaps you will get some idea of it if you think like this. You may have been in a room in which there was a window that looked out on a lovely bay of the sea or a green valley that wound away among mountains. And in the wall of that room opposite to the window there may have been a looking-glass. And as you turned away from the window you suddenly caught sight of that sea or that valley, all over again, in the looking glass. And the sea in the mirror, or the valley in the mirror, were in one sense just the same as the real ones: yet at the same time they were somehow different – deeper, more wonderful, more like places in a story: in a story you have never heard but very much want to know. The difference between the old Narnia and the new Narnia was like that. The new one was a deeper country: every rock and flower and blade of grass looked as if it meant more.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia

In this glory there are so many things to view and explore. Everything has a deep richness and clarity of meaning. You can even interact with the glory of Jesus in your past, experiencing him there loving you and sharing his divine delights with you in surprisingly natural ways. God created your life to be an Eden of pleasure, flourishing with the joys of his imagination. Pleasure has always been a gateway into the experience of his heart. You can see God in those snapshot memories of delight you have held close to your heart since you were little. You can pause and taste the love and glory of Jesus in each moment, 3drinking up his land of beauty: heaven on earth.

It’s as simple as resting and enjoying Jesus’ life in all things. Christianity, then, has largely been marketed as something separate to the glory realm. It tempts us to become busy-bodies, to ignore the siren-song of God’s love within our heart and instead to rapidly flit from one experience to another. Yet there is a sacred stillness that enables you to interact with God’s Disneyland-style dimension of fun in a deeper, more impressionable way. This realm is so authentically magic that a clear awareness of it overtakes you with wonder and eradicates boredom and stress from your existence. This is a land of security and safety, exuding with the serene, beautiful relaxation and total sense of well-being that belongs in a watercolour painting. This is a land of chills and goosebumps, in the best way possible. Scripture calls this ‘the secret place of the Most High’ (Psalm 91). As you linger in this realm, remembering it with a gentle fondness, the power of this kingdom pours golden-honey like through your essence, and powerfully impacts your world with the grace (unmerited favour) and peace (total wholeness, security, prosperity, restoration) of God. The glory of God is the ease. It is medicine, it is wisdom, and it is security. Anything you could desire is found there. You will discover your authentic self there.

“Concepts create idols; only wonder understands anything” – Gregory of Nyssa

The holy kingdom of God’s love resides in the cloud of his glory. So many people do not linger in the cloud, enjoying the many sweet affections and delights of his tangible Presence. There are many levels of self-sufficiency, of living in insecurity of the Father’s tender care and practical affections. These levels range from blatant legalism, to the inability to silence the busy, nagging chatter of your minds concerns. What is it that you want? What is it that you seek? – it is found there, in the cloud of his Presence. Get lost in this cloud, discover the tangible kingdom of his love, and see how he works all of the external situations of your life out in his detailed care of you, without you having to lift a finger. God is the kind-hearted benefactor, and we are the child-like beneficiaries who can enjoy a continual feast on the fatness of his house. It is time that we became Mystics of the living bread and revelatory wine of Jesus Christ, exploring the garden of his pleasure in this cloud of the glory.
Lavish. Prosperous. Verdant. Practical.
These are a few words that describe your Father’s love for you.
Don’t fight the flow. Feel it. Linger there in the flow of his life, floating on his waves of love and inspiration. Every day your Father will impress you with how good this Gospel is. We believe this good news more and more when we feel the tangible love of the Father. There is more to this than we have currently known. Linger there, let the wisdom be in the wine of his love. Let this glory solve any and every issue, give you hope, and decipher your fear-ridden reasoning. Let this glory communicate a deep, refreshing wholeness to you. Whatever you want. Whatever you need. It’s here in the glory realm.

Your Daddy desires to twirl you at the depths of your Spirit. Allow him to dance with you and romance you, showing you through experience how much you mean to him. Th4e whole earth is full of his glory. You can encounter him wherever you are. Take an enjoyment break – a break from whatever you are doing to simply behold and enjoy the Presence. You can live in this place. Drink sweetly of this love in the stillness of your heart.

“Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.” – Song of Solomon 2:3

Linger in the heavenly altered-state-of-consciousness of your Beloved. Enjoy the delights of Narnia within you. Wrap yourself around in the cosy glory blanket of God’s goodness and security – his warm, comforting love. The Passion Translation of this verse says that we can sit under the shadow of God’s grace, simply sit there and bask in his glory. There’s no need to rush, no need to do anything at all except sink into this enjoyment. Resting with delight. Your heavenly Father delights in you simply enjoying your life and being free to follow your heart entirely from that deep place of wonder. He loves you to linger in the vitality and goodness of his Presence, as if you were eating a delicious piece of peace-fruit from the tree of life, or sucking an everlasting glory gobstopper of endless blessings (layer-upon-layer of goodness, love, and grace to nourish yourself on and enjoy). Inhale the ruah, the breath of His Presence – inhale it deeply, for in it is the richness of eternity and infinity.

Endless creativity, bottomless bliss.
Life abundant and overflowing.

In this place your consciousness is levitated right off the ground and placed into the renewed mind of Christ. You can live in Christ consciousness in your own unique flavour, in your own special way. God loves to inhabit your amazement; to dwell in your creative dreams, and rest with you in the cool of the day: in the space within your Spirit where you truly know that you are infinite. Glory is your composition – you are an exhilarating, powerful, authentic symphony of magic. The cloud of God’s glory inhabits you. Linger there, in those powerful, refreshing revelations.

5You see, your heavenly Dad is seated beside you in the forests of your wonder-immersed imagination, yet you cannot tell where you end and where he begins – you are both of many-textures, many-aromas, many-patterns of the life of heaven. He simply lays there with you for hours, enjoying the glory of the moment. He star-gazes with you in that secret space and he asks you ‘what do you want to do? What do you see?’. Jesus ensures that this forest within you is a serene and stress-free reality. He inspires you to discover new depths of glory and authentic life moment-by-moment. Whether you’re fishing together, or simply watching the leaves of the trees of life fall onto the lake of your soul – that lake of stillness – sending chills of deep hope and thoughts of endless, creative possibilities ripping smoothly, ceaselessly through you.

Your God-Dad laughs with you, he lights a cosy campfire and then sings silly, simple little songs to and with you – about anything and everything. And you realise, maybe for the first time in your life, in the Presence of this humble divine-being that seems more human than you expected, that your Daddy is mesmerised by all of your interests. That he’s fascinated by humanity – in unashamed, embarrassing-enthusiastic adoration of it. That he finds no detail of your life insignificant. He loves to practise your Presence with perfect clarity and adoration.

“For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears (Greek and Syriac versions say ‘he will renew you with his love’).
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” – Zephaniah 3:16-17 (NLT)

6Today, simply remain in this place of care-free joy and unconditional acceptance, this place of fun of camaraderie with your heavenly Dad. Riotously laugh with him at his jolly humour, as he laughs with you in your silliness, and allow his relaxed, gooey goodness to re-inspire the rhythm and pace of your life. Rather than hurrying through your life, you will begin to relax and enjoy eternity in each moment. You will begin to drink up the beauty of the moment, knowing that you were created simply to be loved – this is a reality that is simple but not shallow. Knowing that this space is eternal.

“These are the days of the endless summer
These are the days, the time is now
Oh your smiling face, your gracious presence
The fires of spring are kindling bright.
Oh the radiant heart and the song of glory
Crying freedom in the night
These are the days by the sparkling river
His timely grace and our treasured find.
These are days of the endless dancing and the
Long walks on the summer night
These are the days of the true romancing
When I’m holding you oh, so tight.
These are the days now that we must savour
These are the days that will last forever
You’ve got to hold them in your heart.”

– Van Morrison ‘These are The Days’

Feel the magic and authenticity of God’s endless, unconditional love for you in this place. Allow God to roast marshmallows on the campfire of your heart – his ooey-gooey good thoughts towards you are marvellous to taste and sweetly intoxicate you with the clarity of God’s consciousness of life. Allow God to love you. Let his syrupiness smoulder melodically in your heart and ooze through you with his authentic glory-inspiration and comforting poetry.

His life within you will ignite the trees of your imagination with the love-mystic rhymes of his heart. He gives worth and value to you far more than you could picture for yourself – a worth and value that is tangible, experienced as you linger in this place. A thick, glory cloud of bliss that is the meaning of all life.

“On a deeper level, you are already complete. When you realise that, there is a joyful, playful energy behind what you do. Most humans are never fully present in the now, because unconsciously they believe that the next moment must be more important than this one” – Eckhart Tolle

Allow yourself to be very present in the realities of Christ in the here and now.

Jesus is referred to in Scripture as our eternal vacation – our TODAY-rest, our finished 7garden to delight in and enjoy as we explore it with a sense of worshipful awe (Hebrews 3).

Through Christ you can live in satisfaction and fullness in each moment, knowing that you are lacking nothing, resting in his eternal arms of love.

“My Beloved one,
You are pleasing beyond words,
And so winsome!
Our resting place is anointed and flourishing,
Like a green forest meadow bathed in light.
Rafters of cedar branches are over our heads
And balconies of pleasant-smelling pines.
A perfect home!” – Song of Solomon 1:16-17 (TPT)

Your perfect home is lingering in the glory of His Presence, this whole new world. Your life is so SUPER-natural and verdantly glorious. God loves to play peek-a-boo with you through your imagination. Let him love you deeply in tangible experience, as you explore the cultures and kingdoms of your heart there in Him. Every day, without fail, this reality brings a tangible sense of refreshing and vitality that is much deeper than your sense of self, that takes you beyond self-consciousness, to the spirit of prophecy: God-consciousness within you. (Revelation 19:10)

Being Kissed by Heaven

By Paige Hunt

(Song of Solomon 1:1-4)

There is a realm which we were born to experience tangibly, having our every waking moment as a seamless experience and effortless interaction with heavenly glory. 2There is a gateway to this elusive, mystical honey realm in every gossamer dream-laden pleasure. Where is this realm? – All around us and within us (Colossians 3:11). It resides tranquil, honey-sweet and hot-chocolate cosy, within our hearts, designed to impact every aspect of our existence as we relax into the soothing hammock-comfort it offers. 3This realm is substance and song, tangibility and inspiration, natural and divine. It is a mode of existence that is flooded and completely soaked with the fullness of the Trinity. (See Psalm 65:11).

This world is a fountain that gushes continually from the resurrected Christ, and from him everything that is good and perfect flows: health, creativity, joy unspeakable and full of glory…

“They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.” – Psalm 36:8-9

As you eat and drink of the finished work of Christ – the revelation-bread of his body and the revelatory-wine of his blood, you nourish yourself on the reality of realities: the truth of this new world of serene perfection: a haven of bliss. You are not simply drinking of the fountain of Christ, you have become one with the waters of his Presence; permeated through and through with the sweet fountain of life himself. You live within this infamous kingdom under the sea: you are immersed the waters of Daddy’s love and grace. As you flow in this reality, repentance and miracles ‘accidentally’ occur and pop with vibrant colour around you, as living in victory is natural and effortless. 4Your world is wonderland. Every part of you is unlocked in this land of love, until you are naturally flowing from the depths of your heart in this revelation of life, moving with the river that flows within you, feeling the impulses and ecstasies of refreshing, fresh, vital authenticity.

“We do not want merely to see beauty… we want something else which can hardly be put into words- to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it.” ― C.S. Lewis

You adventure, explore, and have your being in a realm that resides beneath external identities (based on the basic principles of this world: do-to-be mentalities). There is a realm nestled deep in Daddy’s heart, deep within the core of our existence and frolicking through the forests of our imagination. A realm of ‘taste and see’, where each of our senses is engaged in the truth that Daddy God is ecstatically, mystically, whimsically good.

Our Heavenly Father desires that each person live within this Gospel reality: not as a stoic kingdom of information and knowledge, with one theological idea stacked wobbly on top of  another, ready to be threatened by external circumstances. No, your good and generous Daddy longs for you to recognise that the Gospel is your composition. You are of one spirit with the Lord. As your spirit is already permeated with pure Jesus-life, this means that every part of you is immersed in his glory. Every part of you is a unique flavour of Jesus. You can express his life through faith, drinking up the heart-felt bliss of his reality. Your perfection is an accomplished fact, and because ‘to the pure all things are pure’ (Titus 1:15), every natural pleasure is a gateway for you to experience in each of your senses, the divine inspiration-composition of this pleasure. God is the fountainhead from which flows the wholesome and pleasant creative, innovative inventions and ideas of humanity.

In Christ, your Spirit is as a fruit-scented tea bag which resides at your unfathomable depths. What does this mean? It means that the water of your life has been flavoured with the divine. You can taste and see that God is good as you reside in this evil-free existence. Everything about you has been infused with divine freshness, heavenly creativity, and flourishing beauty. Christ came to give you life in abundance. This life which has flooded and filled your heart transforms your mind, revealing to you that you have access to all areas of the creative whimsies and jolly-drunken love of the Trinity.

Everything that the Godhead is and has, you are and have. This means that your consciousness is expanded through the revelation of Christ, switching from limited self-consciousness to limitless God-consciousness. We see through the eyes of the Godhead. We feel through his heart. We taste and touch and smell this whole new world through the enthusiastic, optimistic, ecstatic, lofty senses of the Trinity! Scripture declares, “You are in the spirit!” (Romans 8:9). You can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell the divine through the enlightened eyes of your imagination. Colossians 3:1-3 invites us to immerse ourselves in the high, heightened life – effortlessly letting go of dwelling on and associating ourselves with boring, stressful circumstances, to embrace the perfection-vacation of Jesus, the blissful, serene, delicious party of heaven.

Psalm 23 declares that our cups of this living wine are overflowing! You have a river of heaven’s whimsical, eccentric creative life that flows from your belly. Hold the chalice of your imagination to this river and drink deeply of the revelation of your union with Christ. Christ is all in all!  (Colossians 3:11). He is bathing every cell of your body, hugging your every stress and anxiety to oblivion with his perfect love. 5He wants you to feel cosy, prosperous and loved as you reside in your Union with him in this palatial kingdom within.

Let us go on a journey of exploring this verdant wonderland through the Song of Solomon, uncovering a few of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in this book. Scripture declares that we have every gift, and that we can experience these rich treasures of wisdom and knowledge, which all reside in the revelation of the goodness of Christ. (Colossians 2:3; 1 Corinthians 1:7) So today, we are at the beach, we are playing in the sand, paddling in the endless ocean of Daddy’s positive thoughts towards us, and we are picking up the sea-shells of scripture to take home some sentimental keepsakes of revelation concerning who we are and what we have obtained in Christ. Let us continue to play and explore deeper and deeper. The Gospel is so much fun!

“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth – For your love is more delightful than wine.” – Song of Solomon 1:2

We begin by focusing upon the mouth of God. What pours forth from the mouth of God? His word – Christ! The kiss of God is Christ, and in Christ the delight of God is revealed. Christ causes us to behold a whole new world where the old world of striving, disappointments, and dryness is gone. I’ll say it again: Christ introduces to us a whole new world, one we can literally ‘behold’ in the here and now! A glory land of superior essence: God-quality!

“So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

J.B Phillips translates this reality as being one of freshness and newness (“…the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new. All this is God’s doing…”). The New English Bible puts it this way: “when anyone is united to Christ, there is a new world”!! But how is this of relevance to Song of Solomon? – In the Hebrew, Song of Solomon 1:2 is a play on words (how many of us know that Daddy God loves to play and frolic with us?!): the word for kisses and the word for wine (drinking) are very similar! As we drink up the revelation of the finished work of Christ, a mind-transformation takes place. We become intoxicated on love, free of sober insecurities and stress-filled cares. Free to be intoxicated on all that is endless love and abounding creative beauty, as found in the heart of Christ, the realm of the Trinity – our homeland. The revelation of Christ is a classic fairy-tale true love’s kiss to awaken us to the kingdom of happily ever after!

“How fragrant your cologne: your name is like its spreading fragrance…” – Song of Solomon 1:3

The next verse expresses that God’s name (Jesus, the Christ-reality) is like an attractive perfume that has filled the room. As we become aware of the surrounding glory realm, we experience a constant sense of pleasantness and sweetness. A whole new dimension opens up to us, and we begin to flow with exhilarating heavenly frequencies. The glory realm engages our natural senses with creative beauty – we can experience the reality of our oneness with Christ, and interact with this oneness, through our natural personalities. The divine is perfectly at home within the physical realm! Jesus’ Presence is the glory realm, and it is here for us to experience tangibly in the here and now, interacted with through our natural personalities. The Christ-realm which resides within our heart is delicious and addictive.

“Take me after you — let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers…” – Song of Solomon 1:4a

Once we hear that this realm is freely available for us to experience, of course we are eager to engage our senses in it, plunging ourselves into the mystery and wonder of the ages! After all, Jesus is the desire of all nations! (Haggai 2:7). But the truth is, the only way to experience this new reality in Christ is to fall into it, like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole. It is hearing the good news of what Christ has accomplished on our behalf which inspires and influences our senses, until we perceive that which is freely ours, and can behold with our eyes the colours and textures of this new world, tasting of its flavours (Romans 10:17; Romans 1:17). His cross and resurrection is our trap door – as we hear of its good news, we fall effortlessly through into wonder and bliss. Our good works and our bad works are terrible Narnian wardrobes. It is the body of Christ alone, and his work on our behalf, that carries us into this new world – our eternal honeymoon Isle of Blessing.8

This is why the cry of our hearts is to be taken into these chambers by the firstfruits of creation, the one who made a way for us to experience this world and who is referred to in scripture as the first among many brothers (Romans 8:29). We long to go after Jesus, to follow after him and step into his finished work through the mystical portal of his resurrection. Our cry truly is “Take me after you!”. And where are we taken? – The chambers! This speaks of intimacy with the Trinity, experiencing their life and all of its benefits and blessings – experiencing the joys and lofty imagination of their favourite thoughts. This is sure to influence our emotions with giddy enthusiasm and ecstasies! – this is sure to convince us of our righteousness in Christ (Romans 3:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

As Brian Simmons in The Passion Translation of Song of Solomon has pointed out, the Hebrew text for chamber here literally means ‘a chamber within a chamber’, in other words, the Holy of Holies within the Temple chamber. The Holy of Holies was the holiest place in the world. In Christ, it is revealed to us that holiness is not scary or threatening, but lovely and loving. Jesus invites us to live within a realm of wholeness (every fruit of blessing is freshly squeezed for our drinking delights: 100% fresh nectar of everything lovely, perfect, pleasant, beautiful, and creative). The holiest place on earth is the most delicious – a mode of existence that is pure, vibrant goodness!

Christ’s invitation for us to exist in the holy of holies, the dimension of heaven, reveals to us that God believes we are worthy to live within this reality – that in creating us he created children of God, divine babies, and not servants (Galatians 3:26). When God looks at us he sees everything beautiful and lovely, because we are his children, hand-crafted in His image and likeness! As God declares to us in Psalm 82:6, “I said ‘you are gods, you are all sons of the Most High’.

I love the way that Brian Simmons translates the next part of Song of Solomon 1:4:

“We will remember your love As we laugh and rejoice with you
Celebrating your every kiss
As better than whine.
No wonder righteousness adores you!” – Song of Solomon 1:4 (TPT)

The divine life is one of pure happiness – there is no high like the Most High! – every pleasure in this world echoes and interacts with the revelation of Jesus Christ. Every happiness and joy finds its origin and conclusion in the love of God and the revelation of Jesus Christ. This is why we can enjoy God through everything – as we drink our hot chocolate we can enjoy the sweetness of Daddy’s love, as we eat marshmallows we can be enraptured in the ooey-gooey nature of his kindness and goodness. 6His love is a world of substance that we can continually be caught up in, in every activity of life. This is living under the smile of Daddy’s approval, and it is powerful and effective. It causes us to live effortlessly righteous lives! The glory realm has swallowed us whole and it won’t spit us out! Let us drink of its realities and wrap them all around us through celebration and enjoyment!
